About Me!

My name is Jean. The children call me "Miss Jean".
When my 1st child was born, I decided to stay home and become a Home Day Care provider.  My daughter is now 34!
Besides caring for children, I enjoy cheering on my local sports teams. The Orioles, Redskins and Maryland basketball are my favorites.  I also enjoy camping and auto racing.

My Day Care
My day care is located in the basement of my home. It has a seperate entrance in the back of the house. The day care has its own bathroom and kitchen. There are 3 play areas as well as a fenced in area outside. Half of the outside area is undercover, so it is shaded.
I am a licensed day care provider, not a "babysitter".  The children  do not just play and  sit around and watch tv all day! That being said, children do learn through play.  The toys that the children play with are age appropiate and educational. We read, play blocks, have pretend play, use the computer and have a daily circle time.
All our activities revolve around the alphabet, numbers, shapes and colors. Many fine motor skill activities are used to support our monthly theme. These include but are not limited to Play-Doh, coloring, painting, using markers and chalk,  using bingo dabbers, using scissors, using tongs to transfer items, pouring from one container to another, lacing cards and building with wooden blocks and Legos.
My Philosophy
My goal in my day care is to create a loving "home" environment as opposed to a structured "classroom." The children should feel comfortable, as if they were at home and at the same time learn and have fun with other children. All the children must respect each other and their surroundings. I hope that each day the children will leave my house having accomplished at least one thing. It may be sharing a toy or learning a new song or just having a fun day!
It is very important to me to have an open line of communication with the parents. I want the parents to be able to tell me if they have a concern about anything and at the same time, have it so I can tell the parents my concerns. It is all for the child.
This is the room you enter into the day care. It is our main room used for large motor skill activities.
Our middle room where we read and have pretend play.
This is our kitchen. It is where we eat our meals.
Learning time takes place here. We do lots of messy activities in the kitchen. Play dough, painting, water play, mud play & sand play to name a few.
This area is used for playing "house" and table toys.

  1. "Grateful to have found her"
Ms. Jean has cared for all 3 of my children. She truly is the best! She goes above and beyond to provide the children with innovative lessons and activities that keep the kids excited and engaged. She provides daily reports detailing the activity for the day along with pictures that add a little sunshine to the parents long days at work.

  2. "She is amazing"
Jean is wonderful with the children. She is very creative with her activities and the children love her. My oldest son started with Jean when he was 1 and stayed with her till kindergarten. She taught him so much. He entered kindergarten reading, counting and so much more because of her help. My youngest son started with her at 6 weeks. Our family loves her.
